Norris and Piastri Disqualified in Las Vegas Grand Prix

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri faced disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, landing them in an unfortunate Formula One group. Norris trailed Max Verstappen in the race, while Piastri secured fourth place. However, both drivers were disqualified due to a technical violation discovered during post-race inspections. The inspection revealed that the planks under their McLaren cars were below the required 9mm thickness, indicating an unauthorized low ride height. This led to their disqualification from the 22nd race of the 2025 season, tying Verstappen with Piastri in points.

As a result, the reigning champion now sits just 24 points behind Norris in the championship standings, setting the stage for an intense season finale. This marked the first disqualification in the F1 careers of Norris and Piastri, joining a small group of drivers who have experienced similar penalties. Notably, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were also disqualified earlier this year.

In other F1 news, Nico Hulkenberg faced disqualification after 15 years in the sport at the Bahrain Grand Prix due to excessive skid block wear on his Sauber. Additionally, George Russell’s victory in the Belgian Grand Prix was overturned when his car was found to be underweight, promoting Hamilton to the top spot. Lastly, Esteban Ocon’s only disqualification occurred seven years ago, while racing for Force India.
