Anthony Joshua is keeping his fans in suspense regarding his upcoming return to the boxing ring, with the final decision expected just 48 hours before the fight begins.
After suffering a brutal knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September, Joshua is eyeing a comeback with a warm-up bout before pursuing a high-profile showdown with Tyson Fury next year. There is a possibility that the two-time heavyweight world champion could be added to an undercard event before Christmas on short notice.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, revealed, “We will make a decision this week on his next fight. If he fights this year, the announcement will be last-minute. We have been in talks with potential opponents for a warm-up fight, aiming for a low-key approach where Joshua would weigh in and fight without much publicity.”
Hearn mentioned the possibility of Joshua facing YouTuber Jake Paul, who was initially set to fight Gervonta Davis in an exhibition match but got canceled due to legal issues. However, Hearn clarified that Joshua is not currently in the running to replace Davis, as there have been discussions but no formal offers made.
In other boxing news, the highly anticipated Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn rematch is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 15, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans can watch the event on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or enjoy it for free with a DAZN Ultimate plan.
Meanwhile, Joshua is on the lookout for a new coaching team after parting ways with trainer Ben Davison. The Olympic champion recently visited Oleksandr Usyk’s training camp in Spain as he prepares for the next phase of his career, having previously worked with notable trainers like Tony Sims, Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James before joining Fury’s former stable.
