Households in the UK using Freeview for TV entertainment are advised to check their equipment and consider performing a quick retune due to recent channel changes. While not a significant overhaul, a quick retune will ensure that TVs are fully updated.
Freeview has confirmed that on May 20, 2026, some channels will undergo changes. Viewers are encouraged to retune to keep their TV and channel guide up to date.
Among the changes, two channels have been renamed. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1.
Furthermore, there are adjustments in channel numbers. Great! Movies is shifting from channel 61 to channel 62, with Great! TV +1 now occupying channel 61.
Freeview stated, “Channels on Freeview are constantly evolving as providers make decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview remains committed to offering diverse and engaging content for audiences.”
If the updates are not reflected on your TV, manual retuning of the device may be required.
To retune your TV:
• Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
• Choose “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option
• If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”
• Select “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”
• Confirm the deletion of existing channels if prompted by pressing “OK”
• The retune process should initiate automatically
• Save any channels found during the scan if requested
