Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive pricing is positioned as a cost-saving alternative to popular devices like Ring doorbells sold on Amazon.
The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. It offers full HD video recording, instant alerts, custom activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud storage.
For added security, there is a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app features for scheduled arming and automatic modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s aim to make high-quality smart technology accessible and user-friendly. These new plans mark a shift for Sky, expanding its home security offerings beyond bundled products to standalone services.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with additional costs for cloud recording through Ring Protect subscriptions starting at £4.99 per month.
