A man named Layonel Ramirez Collado, 27, was rescued after spending 38 hours adrift at sea due to his jet ski malfunctioning. He was stranded at sea for three days before a rescue team located him in the scorching sun.
The incident occurred near the town of Juan Grande in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. Mr. Collado was on a boat with friends when his jet ski detached from the vessel. Despite promising to follow his friends to the shore, he ended up drifting further out to sea as night fell.
A search operation was initiated after his friends raised the alarm at 11 pm, but he could not be located. On the third day, a passing aircraft spotted him 15 nautical miles southwest of Arguineguín. He was found sitting on the jet ski, dehydrated and sunburnt but conscious.
He was rescued by a cargo vessel and brought ashore in good health, with only slight chest pain. He was taken to San Roque Meloneras Hospital for examination. His family expressed relief upon his return, stating their confidence in his survival throughout the ordeal.
Despite criticizing the initial search efforts by Spanish authorities, his family and friends hailed him as a warrior for his resilience. After the harrowing experience, Layonel expressed a desire to relax by watching Netflix as soon as possible.
