A tragic incident unfolded on Valentine’s Day when a woman named Lisa Smith, aged 43, was fatally shot twice in the neck outside The Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent. The shooting occurred as Lisa was trying to end her relationship with her husband, Edward Smith. Earlier that day, Lisa had informed her sister of her intentions to leave Edward and had traveled from their home in Slough to stay with family in Kent.
Area Coroner Katrina Hepburn determined that Lisa’s death was a result of unlawful killing with clear intent from Edward Smith to cause her serious harm or death. Following the shooting, Edward, also known as Edvard Stockings, sent voice notes admitting to the act before taking his own life by jumping from a bridge in Dartford.
The tragic event unfolded when Edward confronted Lisa at the pub, leading to a verbal altercation with her sister. Edward blocked their car, preventing their escape, and fired multiple shots from his handgun. Despite attempts by bystanders and emergency services to save her, Lisa succumbed to her injuries.
The coroner’s investigation concluded that Edward’s actions were premeditated, with the intent to harm Lisa after she had left their home. The inquest into Edward Smith’s death is scheduled for later.
