A horse trainer, who manages only two horses, achieved a significant victory with his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition featured horses from prominent stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, along with Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.
Against tough competition, Connor King outperformed them all with Oscars Brother, guided by his brother Daniel, who skillfully led the seven-year-old around the County Kildare track. Maintaining a front-running position, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, executed precise jumps and finished three lengths ahead of De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.
Having previously competed in a novice chase at Galway on soft to heavy ground, Oscars Brother showcased his readiness for the three-mile race. The duo now aspires to have a Grade One caliber horse in their stable, which currently houses only one other racehorse.
Daniel expressed his excitement about winning a significant race for his brother, emphasizing the horse’s positive attributes and their collective hopes for future success. Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the possibility of competing in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas season, highlighting the horse’s transition from hurdles to chasing.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Connor recalled last year’s race with a small field and expressed optimism about aiming for a similar competition in the future.
