“Guelph Brewery and Lawn Bowling Club Team Up for Summer Success”

A distinctive blend of lawn bowling, beer, music, and summer evenings in Guelph is attracting attention. Brothers Brewing, situated on Wyndham Street in downtown Guelph, faced challenges due to a significant construction project that hindered the opening of their summer patio, leading to a decline in foot traffic.

To address this setback, the brewery collaborated with the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club, establishing a beer garden that has proven beneficial for both establishments. Colton Proveau, co-owner of Brothers Brewing, emphasized the necessity of this partnership as brewery sales dropped by approximately 50%.

Despite the difficulties faced, Proveau expressed gratitude for the innovative solution brought about by the construction situation. The beer garden at the bowling club has provided a much-needed boost, with Blake Skinner, the club president, noting the added fun element and the influx of newcomers to the sport of lawn bowling.

The partnership has garnered praise from patrons like Mathew and Jenna Holdom, who have transitioned from frequenting the Brothers Brewing patio to enjoying lawn bowling at the club’s beer garden. Similarly, Emily Gibson, a long-time lawn bowler at the Guelph club, commended the vibrant atmosphere brought by the beer garden, attracting a diverse range of participants.

The success of this collaboration has not gone unnoticed, with hopes for its continuity in the coming years. Proveau affirmed their commitment to the initiative, promising its recurrence as long as it remains well-received. The enthusiasm and positivity surrounding the beer garden showcase the resilience and adaptability of local businesses in navigating challenges and fostering community engagement.
