“UK Defense Secretary Agrees with Trump: Putin’s Military a ‘Paper Tiger'”

The UK’s defense secretary, John Healey, has expressed agreement with Donald Trump’s characterization of Vladimir Putin’s military as a “paper tiger.” He mentioned that Russia is not as formidable as Putin portrays and commended President Trump for urging Putin to engage in talks and recognizing Russia’s actual strength compared to its perceived toughness. He highlighted Putin’s miscalculation in the war in Ukraine and the significant losses Russia has suffered, including manpower and military equipment.

Healey emphasized the need for a modernized defense approach in response to evolving threats, citing the UK’s substantial increase in defense spending. Recent provocations by Russia, such as drone activities near NATO countries, have led to a coordinated response, with the UK reinforcing NATO efforts in Poland. Healey underscored that such actions only serve to unite NATO countries against Russian aggression.

In a separate incident, Trump criticized Russia’s prolonged and seemingly futile military engagement, suggesting that it portrays Russia as a weak and ineffective force. In response, a Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, dismissed the “paper tiger” label, likening Russia to a bear and rejecting the notion of a weak or flimsy portrayal.
