A former participant of the popular reality show “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” has initiated legal proceedings following an unfortunate incident during filming. Supermodel Janice Dickinson is taking legal action against ITV executives after a serious fall on the show led to her departure.
The 70-year-old suffered an injury while shooting the South African edition of the show in 2023 when she tripped over a cable in Kruger National Park, resulting in a fall that left her with a head wound, a black eye, and concerns of a skull fracture. Although doctors confirmed no fractures, Dickinson had to withdraw from the All Stars version of the show hosted by Ant & Dec. She has filed a personal injury lawsuit against ITV, seeking compensation in the High Court.
The legal documents, classified as a personal injury claim, were filed on September 19. Dickinson’s representative, Dermot McNamara, confirmed the lawsuit at the High Court related to her participation in the show, stating that she is prepared to present her account. While specific details are scarce, the case is known as Dickinson v ITV Studios Limited, with the sought-after damages potentially amounting to hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Reflecting on the incident, Dickinson, dubbed the “world’s first supermodel,” recounted the emotional moment of reuniting with her husband, Robert Gerner. Despite describing the fall as an “honest accident,” she mentioned that ITV covered her medical expenses in Los Angeles for intensive laser treatment with a skin specialist.
Expressing a desire to return to the show, Dickinson acknowledged the production’s decision to keep her out, recognizing the shock and impact her absence would have had on the campsite. Disappointed to leave the show, she shared her determination to win the contest even while being carried on a stretcher, emphasizing the intense emotions she experienced following the fall.
Both Dickinson’s agent and an ITV spokesperson declined to provide comments on the situation.
