A man has passed away after sustaining gunshot injuries, while a woman is hospitalized after a shooting incident at a park in the UK.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the tragic incident occurred at Clissold Park in Stoke Newington, North London, just after 7pm. Both victims, a man and a woman in their 40s, received medical attention at the scene before being transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries, while the woman’s current condition remains unknown.
In a statement, the Met Police confirmed responding to reports of the shooting and mentioned that the woman was being treated at the hospital, awaiting updates on her condition. The man, also in his 40s, was pronounced dead despite efforts to save him.
Authorities discovered a firearm at the park, believed to be connected to the incident. Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter, overseeing policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, stated that the individuals involved were acquainted with each other, and the incident is considered isolated.
Richter expressed sympathy for those affected and assured the public that there is no broader risk. Police are actively investigating the circumstances and providing support to those impacted. A crime scene is established for further investigation with heightened police presence.
