K-pop sensation BTS is receiving criticism from some of their fans following an appearance where two band members, J-Hope and RM, were photographed alongside controversial American artist Chris Brown at his Toronto concert. The duo attended Brown’s performance at Rogers Stadium, where he co-headlined with Usher. BTS is set to perform at the same venue on August 22 and 23.
Images shared on Brown’s Instagram show J-Hope and RM posing with the singer, with additional clips depicting them enjoying the show surfacing on social media. Brown, known for his troubled past involving legal issues, including a felony assault charge against his former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, has faced multiple assault charges and a jail stint in 2014. Recently, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a producer in a London nightclub.
The online reaction among BTS’s ARMY, their dedicated fan base, has been mixed. While some fans expressed disappointment over the members’ association with Brown, others defended J-Hope and RM, suggesting they may have attended the concert to see Usher rather than supporting Brown knowingly. Criticism of Brown’s history was acknowledged by fans, emphasizing the distinction between criticizing a decision and attacking someone’s character.
The situation has sparked debate within the fan community, with varying opinions on the band members’ actions. BTS representatives have yet to comment on the matter.
