Nick Reiner, accused of the murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, has been refused access to a $1.5 million US trust fund he wanted to use for his legal defense. A recent filing revealed that Reiner sought unpaid funds from a trust set up by his parents in 1993.
Trustees declined Reiner’s request, citing the “slayer statute” in California law, which prohibits individuals from inheriting assets from someone they have feloniously and intentionally killed. Rob Reiner and Michele were tragically stabbed to death in their California home on December 14, 2025, with their son Nick arrested shortly after. The 32-year-old has been indicted on murder charges and pleaded not guilty.
The indictment, unsealed by a Los Angeles County grand jury, alleges that Reiner laid in wait before the attack, potentially leading to a death penalty charge.
