Several tracks by Taylor Swift have been taken down from social media videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, both of which had utilized two of the singer’s songs in the past week.
Neither the White House nor a representative for Swift responded immediately to requests for comments.
Swift has not made recent statements regarding Trump, but she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election, Swift expressed on social media her disapproval of Trump serving as president.
Trump has consistently criticized Swift. Following her endorsement of Harris, the Republican leader declared on social media, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” In a post from last year, he remarked, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’
Many artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have urged the Trump administration not to use their music.
TikTok Videos Incorporate Popular Swift Tracks
The Trump campaign showcased two Swift songs on its TikTok page within the last week. One video, referencing her song lyrics, had a caption alluding to well-known tracks by the pop star, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”
In June, Trump’s campaign posted a video on the short-video platform using Swift’s latest song, “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5. The video was captioned, “Nobody loves our country & the American People more than @President Donald J Trump,” showcasing him engaging with children at the White House, dancing at a UFC match, and appearing at a rally.
This marked the third instance where the Trump administration or campaign had employed one of the Grammy Award-winning artist’s songs in recent times.
