Energy Secretary Ed Miliband is preparing to criticize Reform for opposing his eco-friendly energy strategies, accusing them of harming workers. Nigel Farage’s party has vowed to eliminate net zero projects and has actively protested against green energy initiatives supported by Miliband and the Labour government.
During a significant speech scheduled for Wednesday, Miliband will emphasize the detrimental impact of Reform’s proposed actions on various sectors. He will highlight the potential consequences on employees at the Siemens wind turbine factory in Hull, construction workers involved in carbon capture and storage in Teesside, and workers at the new cable factory in Scotland.
Furthermore, Miliband will condemn Farage’s party for surrendering in the battle against the climate crisis, characterizing their stance as a betrayal of future generations. He will also announce an extension of the solar panel installation scheme in schools and hospitals to reduce expenses. Notably, numerous educational and healthcare facilities have already received funding under the Great British Energy program operated by the Labour party.
In his address, Miliband will underscore the practical advantages of clean energy under a Labour government, emphasizing cost reductions for schools and healthcare facilities. He will introduce a Fair Work Charter to ensure fair compensation and employment rights for individuals in the clean energy sector. Moreover, a forthcoming clean energy job plan is projected to double employment in the field from 430,000 to 830,000 jobs by the end of the decade.
