An Israeli government official has disclosed that right-wing activist Tommy Robinson has been extended an invitation to visit Israel, where he is hailed as a valuable supporter. Amichai Chikli, the Israeli Minister of Diaspora and Combating Antisemitism, announced plans to host the “British patriot” on behalf of the state later this month. This announcement comes shortly after a terror incident outside a synagogue in Manchester.
Chikli emphasized Israel’s solidarity with the United Kingdom and the Jewish community in light of the recent attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall. Describing Tommy Robinson as a fearless leader in the fight against radical Islam, Chikli stressed the importance of building strong alliances in combating rising antisemitism across Europe.
The tragic incident, which took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, involved a suspect named Jihad Al-Shamie, who was fatally shot by armed police at the scene. Investigations indicate a possible link to extremist Islamist beliefs, with six individuals currently detained on suspicion of terrorism-related activities.
Regrettably, two individuals, Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, lost their lives during the attack. They are remembered as valued members of their communities. Additionally, in a tragic error, armed police accidentally shot Mr. Daulby and another bystander while attempting to thwart the attacker from entering the synagogue. An investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been initiated into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
