He voiced his concerns to ITV4, stating, “I conduct myself as professionally as I possibly can. I try and treat the game with an incredible amount of respect.”

He highlighted the contrast with other players who had not participated in the recent China tournament but were scheduled to play later in the week.
In response to Murphy’s complaints, Matchroom released a statement acknowledging his frustrations and emphasizing their commitment to fair play and transparency. They explained that groupings were based on seeding and acknowledged the challenges of scheduling, promising to consider improvements for future events.
