“Wetherspoon to Open ‘Joe’s Bar’ at University of Birmingham in Easter 2026”

Wetherspoon is set to launch a new pub at the University of Birmingham in a collaboration with the Guild of Students. Named Joe’s after the university’s famous clock tower, the pub will offer the complete Wetherspoon menu, including special weekly deals like the Thursday Curry Club. This new establishment is scheduled to open in Easter 2026 after undergoing extensive renovations.

Having almost 800 pubs nationwide, Wetherspoon previously introduced its inaugural university pub at Hull University in 2022. Chief executive John Hutson expressed excitement about the partnership with the Guild of Students, aiming to make Joe’s Bar a thriving venue.

University of Birmingham Guild of Students President, Antonia Listrat, highlighted the benefits for students, emphasizing the value-for-money food and drinks and increased job opportunities within the bar. She mentioned that any surplus generated would be reinvested in student activities, reinforcing the commercial efforts to enhance the student experience at the Guild.

Wetherspoon plans to unveil six additional pubs by mid-January, continuing their expansion. The launch of their Christmas menu, featuring the popular turkey dinner, signals the holiday season. The turkey feast includes various accompaniments and is priced at £13.99 with a soft drink or £15.52 with an alcoholic beverage, slightly higher than the previous year.

Despite the industry facing tax hikes, Wetherspoon’s chairman Tim Martin aims to minimize price increases while maintaining sales and profits. The Christmas menu will be available until December 31, offering customers a festive dining experience during the holiday period.
