A couple introduced a contactless payment device at their wedding bar to raise funds for their desired honeymoon. Chris Martin and Tasha White hosted the UK’s pioneering tap-and-pay wedding celebration, where their 140 guests could electronically transfer contributions directly into their bank account. Lopay, the most cost-effective card-processing company in the country, set up a custom QR code for the couple, accompanied by a playful sign encouraging guests to “Don’t be tight, pay for our flight.”
Chris, 35, employed by Mercedes, and Tasha, who have been in a relationship for 14 years, jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon the day after their wedding, thanks to the innovative collection method. Chris expressed his gratitude, stating that their guests were exceptionally generous, although he declined to disclose the total amount received.
The couple emphasized that they preferred assistance in funding their dream trip over traditional wedding gifts, citing that they already had a fully-equipped household. They decided to incorporate the contactless payment reader by the bar as a fun and modern way to gather contributions, acknowledging the increasing trend of cashless transactions among people.
The wedding, which took place at Furtho Manor Farm in Milton Keynes, was well-received by guests, with one praising the convenience and simplicity of using the card reader and QR code for gifts. Richard Carter, the founder of Lopay, expressed his delight in contributing to Chris and Tasha’s special day, highlighting the ease and efficiency of the payment method for guests.
Lopay, known for providing the lowest-cost and top-rated payment application in the UK, currently offers zero fees for the initial £2000 processed. Their payment processing rates start at 0.79%, significantly lower than competitors like SumUp, Zettle, and Square, making it an attractive option for businesses seeking cost-effective solutions.
