“Trump’s Peace Plan for Gaza Met with Mixed Reactions”

Hamas officials were analyzing a recent 21 US peace proposal while violence continued in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 46 Palestinians. Tragic incidents included a mother and her six children killed in a missile strike in Deir al-Balah, and three individuals who died in an Israeli attack on a camp in al-Mawsi.

The conflict escalated with widespread attacks, coinciding with the delivery of the peace plan to Hamas at midnight on Monday. The proposal, presented by President Donald Trump, gave the militants a short window to accept the terms in what could be a significant step towards peace in the region.

The plan, supported by Israel, includes provisions for Gaza residents to stay, granting amnesty to Hamas fighters, demanding an end to hostilities, and the immediate release of hostages. If the remaining hostages are returned within 72 hours of Israel’s acceptance, Palestinian prisoners, including those serving life sentences, would be freed.

The proposal stipulates the removal of Hamas from Gaza, the establishment of a new police force, de-radicalization programs, and a commitment to peaceful coexistence with Israel. A peace oversight board led by Trump and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair would supervise Gaza until a Palestinian authority is established.

However, Trump cautioned that if Hamas rejects the deal, further military action may ensue. International support for the plan has been forthcoming, with countries like France, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan backing the initiative. Various world leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, expressed support for the peace efforts.

While the plan received broad support, some extremist groups criticized it. Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ziad Al-Nakhaleh and Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich denounced the proposal. Nevertheless, global leaders, including the UN, China, Germany, Spain, and France, welcomed the peace initiative and urged all parties to work towards a ceasefire and long-term stability.

As discussions continue within Hamas and other Palestinian factions, world leaders hope for a positive response to the peace plan. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others have commended Trump’s efforts to end the conflict and establish lasting peace in the Middle East.
