Tragic Collision Claims 8 Family Members, Unborn Child

A tragic six-vehicle collision claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and seven family members, with a truck driver now facing charges in connection with the incident. The victims, including a pregnant woman identified as Kenia Ramirez, her partner Darwin Ventura, and their child, were among those who perished in the crash. The devastating accident involved a Dodge van carrying the family, which caught fire in a chain reaction with four other vehicles.

The victims, ranging from 2 to 16 years old, were reported to be Kenia’s children and her mother, along with other family members. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as Kane Aaron Hammock, has been charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide and related offenses following the collision on Interstate 85 in Jackson County. The crash occurred when Hammock’s vehicle struck the back of the Dodge van, leading to the fatal chain of events.

Family members of the deceased have started an online fundraiser to assist with funeral costs and expressed their profound grief over the unexpected loss. Additionally, a van transporting 37 cats to a shelter was also involved in the crash, with some casualties and missing animals reported. The community is coming together to support those affected by this tragic incident, offering condolences and assistance during this difficult time.
