Taylor Swift’s Ex-Manager Slams Fan-Led Battles

Taylor Swift’s ex-manager criticizes her for enlisting fans to fight her battles in a new documentary airing on Channel 4. The dispute arose when her former record label head, Scott Borchetta, sold her back catalog to Scooter Braun for over $300 million in June 2019, leading to Taylor losing control over her music legacy.

Taking to social media, Taylor urged fans to express their opinions to Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun about the situation. However, Scooter retaliated, citing death threats received by his family. The documentary also features Taylor’s first manager, Rick Barker, condemning her actions, emphasizing that no one stole her music and Scooter made a sound business decision.

In the documentary, songwriter Robert Ellis Orrall shares insights into Taylor’s early career, highlighting her prowess in creating hit songs. Robert worked with Taylor when she was just 13, recording demos of tracks like “Invisible” and “Just South Of Knowing Why.” He reveals having 16 unreleased songs written by Taylor from 2003.

Robert praises Taylor’s creative vision and determination, noting her unwavering focus on success despite facing numerous obstacles. He played a pivotal role in Taylor’s discovery, introducing her to Scott Borchetta at The Bluebird Cafe, where she was eventually signed to Big Machine Records.

The documentary showcases audio clips of Taylor reminiscing about her beginnings and her collaboration with Scott Borchetta. It also touches on Taylor’s recent engagement to football star Travis Kelce. Even amidst criticism, her former manager Rick expresses well wishes for her future endeavors.

The documentary will air on Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 30 at 9:15 pm.
