Paul Doyle appeared visibly distraught in court, shedding tears as devastating footage of his reckless actions was shown to his victims. The courtroom was filled with individuals he had injured on May 26, prompting the need for an overflow area to accommodate everyone.
As CCTV and dashcam videos revealed the chaos he caused, onlookers gasped and wept at the scenes of people being thrown over his car and dragged beneath its wheels. Despite his well-groomed appearance in court, Doyle struggled to contain his emotions, often breaking down in tears and finding it difficult to speak.
The court was warned by Paul Greaney KC that the footage of Doyle’s violent behavior was extremely disturbing, leading to emotional reactions from the families present. Only recently did Doyle alter his plea, previously denying any accountability for his actions.
Details emerged of Doyle’s fabricated explanations to the police, claiming self-defense against aggressive fans and a supposed threat to his life. However, his dashcam footage contradicted his account, exposing it as false. Victim impact statements were read out, revealing the lasting trauma inflicted on numerous individuals.
Doyle has confessed to 31 charges, including causing harm with intent, affray, and dangerous driving. His sentencing is scheduled to conclude the following day.
