“Man with Gas Cylinders Sparks Madrid Standoff”

A man, covered in blood, locked himself in a building in the city center and allegedly made threats to detonate gas cylinders. The incident unfolded on the bustling Gran Via in Madrid, Spain, drawing emergency services to the scene. The man was reportedly situated on the third floor of the building.

Police vehicles and ambulances swiftly arrived at the location, along with a negotiator. Following the detainment of the individual, the police cordon was lifted.

The disruption caused chaos in the heart of Madrid, prompting the closure of a metro station on Gran Via. Police managed to safely remove the man from the building, where he was found with blood on his hands and canisters of butane gas.

Authorities took precautions by blocking traffic and establishing a security perimeter in the area during the operation. The man, situated between Calle Montera and Gran Via, remained uncooperative, threatening to use the gas to cause an explosion.

Images captured emergency services outside the central Madrid building, while social media posts indicated the closure of the Gran Via metro stop and the cordoning off of the vicinity by police.
