Lando Norris confidently expressed his views to a journalist by stating, “I have the freedom to speak my mind.” He shared his belief that McLaren is not likely to be the favored team at the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix despite his recent consecutive wins in Brazil.
Heading into the season’s closing triple-header, Norris holds a substantial 24-point lead over his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, who currently stands in second place in the World Championship rankings. The racer from Bristol dominated the weekend at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace by securing pole positions and winning both races.
Reflecting on his past experiences at the Las Vegas street circuit, Norris remains cautious. He recalls crashing out early during the event’s debut in 2023 and witnessing Max Verstappen claim the championship as he finished sixth last year.
During a post-race press conference in Sao Paulo, Norris downplayed McLaren’s chances as favorites for the upcoming race, dismissing a reporter’s assertion. Defending his perspective, he emphasized his commitment to honesty and transparency in his assessments of the team’s performance.
