Eddie Hearn has not ruled out the possibility of a surprising matchup between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua as Paul seeks a new opponent. Originally scheduled to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in Miami on November 14, the fight is now uncertain due to allegations of battery and kidnapping against Davis. Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s camp, has launched an investigation and is exploring alternative opponents.
In a statement, Most Valuable Promotions stated that they are investigating the civil lawsuit filed against Davis and are carefully reviewing the situation to make informed decisions. They have emphasized their stance against violence and are committed to handling the matter with thoroughness and respect for all parties involved. Further decisions will be made after completing the review process and consulting with relevant stakeholders.
While a replacement opponent has not been officially announced, several names, including Ryan Garcia, Edgar Berlanga, and even Joshua, have been mentioned as potential contenders. Hearn, the promoter, hinted at the possibility of a fight with Paul when he responded, “Just let me know where.” This statement follows Hearn’s recent indication that Joshua is unlikely to return to the ring before the end of the year.
Joshua has been out of action since his loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 at Wembley. If he does not compete this year, it would mark the first time in his professional career that he has not fought in a calendar year.
