CBC has secured an expanded presence in Canadian curling through a fresh five-year broadcast agreement, promising increased coverage of Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches on its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, unveiled on Thursday, will offer over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet for the 2026-27 season.
A notable aspect of this agreement for CBC is its involvement in Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will make a comeback on CBC in January 2027. Every match will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected games also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays. Rock League comprises six mixed-gender teams with players from various countries. Its upcoming season will include events on specific weekends in January and April, featuring games from Thursday to Sunday.
Moreover, CBC will play a more significant role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, starting in October. The coverage will include three draws each day from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for the playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be broadcast on Sportsnet, with CBC also airing select finals throughout the season. Additionally, morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement solidifies CBC’s extensive history with curling and elevates its presence during key Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to share Rock League with audiences nationwide. The Curling Group sees these agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport, according to Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder. Canadian viewers can anticipate more ways to engage with Grand Slam playoff weekends and the upcoming second season of Rock League on CBC over the next five years.
