A former nurse was sentenced to two years in prison in the US after being found guilty of engaging in a sexual relationship with her 15-year-old stepson. Alexis Von Yates, 34, who was charged with lewd and lascivious battery, will also serve two years of community control and 10 years of sex offender probation. Additionally, she must complete 200 hours of community service, pay court costs, and fines.
Court documents revealed that Von Yates’ husband caught her with his stepson in a compromising situation on their living room sofa. Von Yates claimed that her actions were motivated by the resemblance the boy bore to her husband. The nurse, who has been stripped of her license, had made inappropriate jokes about her sexual desires leading up to the incident.
The stepson described how Von Yates initiated physical contact, expressing regret that he was not yet 18 years old. He detailed that she proceeded to engage in sexual acts without protection. Despite hearing noises from the garage, they continued until the boy’s father interrupted them upon returning home. The teenager rushed to the bathroom as his father entered, with Von Yates telling her husband that she had asked the boy to stop.
Following the incident, the boy’s father drove him to his grandparents’ house, blaming him for ruining his life. The grandfather dissuaded the boy from informing his biological mother about what had occurred. Von Yates later contacted the boy, expressing regret that the father had discovered them. The boy’s father eventually reported the incident to the authorities anonymously.
Since the assault in July 2024, Von Yates and her husband have separated. When asked if she wished to make a statement to the court, Von Yates declined to comment.
