“BT Launches Smart Hub 3 Router with Advanced Security”

BT has introduced a new method for internet access, offering more than just connectivity to devices. The company’s latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router is set to launch in UK households soon, providing enhanced connectivity while incorporating various security features.

The router boasts technology that can automatically detect harmful websites, alerting users to potential malware or online threats before any damage occurs. Additionally, it can identify unauthorized attempts by hackers to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras, preemptively blocking suspicious activities.

Users will have the ability to monitor detected threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app, empowering households to enhance their online security and proactively address potential cyber threats.

In addition to security features, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance, supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus to extend signal coverage across homes and eliminate dead zones in weaker areas.

The Smart Hub 3 features a sleek and minimalist design with a small BT logo at the center, as observed in images from Mirror Online. Notably, the router supports Wi-Fi 6 technology rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard found in some competitor devices like those from EE.

While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, many current devices do not yet support this standard. Therefore, Wi-Fi 6 remains highly efficient for most households, representing a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

To acquire the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with the possibility of upgrades for certain existing users.

Regarding the disparity between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6 enhances wireless performance by boosting speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to previous standards. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 7 introduces wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, catering to gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home applications.

For most users presently, Wi-Fi 6 remains a commendable choice, while Wi-Fi 7 offers a more future-proof solution.
