A family of four who recently moved from the UK to the US is starting to realize the ups and downs of their new life in Florida. While they appreciate the warm evenings and scenic views from their home, they are also encountering aspects of American living that they find challenging.
In a recent video shared online, Emily and her partner Jay highlighted “10 things we don’t like since we moved from the UK to Florida.” Among the issues mentioned, Emily expressed discomfort with the lack of privacy in public bathroom stalls due to visible gaps around the doors. She also noted the absence of WhatsApp usage in favor of traditional texting, which she considers old-fashioned.
Another point of contention for Emily is the driving behavior in Florida, describing it as wild and aggressive. Despite the initial shock, she hopes to adapt to the local driving style soon. Additionally, the family has encountered persistent solicitors at their door promoting various businesses, a situation Emily plans to address by putting up a sign to deter them.
Filling up the car with gas has proven to be a tedious task for Emily, as she mentioned the slow pumps at gas stations. She also expressed frustration at the delayed mail deliveries, particularly when not using Amazon Prime, and the abundance of insects during nighttime in Florida.
Furthermore, Emily voiced concerns about encountering snakes on their property, including venomous ones, which she finds unsettling. Lastly, she pointed out the complexities of the healthcare system in the US, citing the extensive paperwork involved, but remains optimistic about adapting to it over time.
Despite these challenges, Emily emphasized that moving to the US has been a rewarding experience overall, stating that it has been the best decision they have ever made, and they cherish their life in their new environment.
