“Apple Unveils Enhanced AirTag with Advanced Features”

Apple has introduced the new-generation AirTag, an essential tool for those prone to misplacing items. These small trackers, launched in 2021, have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. AirTags’ compact size allows easy attachment to keys, bags, laptop cases, or luggage.

The upgraded AirTag now boasts an enhanced Ultra Wideband chip, offering a significantly extended range. Apple claims this advancement enhances Precision Finding by up to 50%, enabling easier location of lost items from greater distances. Additionally, Precision Finding is now compatible with select Apple Watch models, allowing users to track misplaced items from their wrist.

Improving on the original design, the new AirTag features a redesigned internal speaker that emits sounds 50% louder than its predecessor. This enhancement is beneficial for locating the AirTag in hard-to-find places like under clutter or behind furniture.

Utilizing Apple’s Find My network, AirTags leverage nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously to the owner. Privacy is a key focus in the revamped system, ensuring that AirTags do not store location history on the device and all communication with the Find My network is encrypted end-to-end, safeguarding the location data for the owner’s eyes only.

The new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature enabling users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, like airlines, for the recovery of lost belongings. More than 50 airlines have partnered with Apple to support this functionality.

Interested buyers can now order the new AirTag from apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability starting later this week. The pricing is another positive aspect, with single AirTags starting at £29 and a pack of four priced at £99—making them more affordable than the original launch price of £35.
