An investment firm, part of a group that acquired a significant stake in the Alpine Formula 1 team in 2023, is reportedly considering selling its share. This firm, Otro Capital, had notable figures like Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney among its investors, alongside prominent names like Rory McIlroy, Anthony Joshua, Juan Mata, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce.
Reports suggest that Otro Capital has engaged in initial talks about offloading its stake in the Alpine team. The team’s value stood at around £685 million at the time of investment, reflecting the growing popularity of Formula 1 worldwide and the consequent rise in team valuations.
Despite the star-studded investor lineup, there are indications that a sale might be on the horizon for Otro Capital. While their initial investment in 2023 was £165 million, a potential sale could yield substantial profits. However, discussions regarding this move are said to be in the early stages.
It is unclear whether other consortium members like Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and RedBird Capital Partners are contemplating a sale. Notably, Alpine is currently at the bottom of the constructors’ championship, with only 20 points for the season, trailing Sauber, who have performed better this year.
Alpine is planning to switch to Mercedes power units for the upcoming season, aiming to improve upon their current Renault engines, which lack performance compared to competitors. The team is yet to announce its driver lineup for 2026, with Pierre Gasly already secured and uncertainties surrounding Franco Colapinto’s future.
Sky has recently reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering significant savings and over 1,400 live matches across various leagues. Additionally, Sky will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games next season, representing a notable increase in coverage.
