A couple from Connecticut who were apprehended for engaging in a sexual act in front of children on a JetBlue flight have managed to avoid facing criminal charges. Trista L. Reilly, 43, and Christopher D. Arnold, 42, were taken into custody after their flight arrived in Florida from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in July. The duo, hailing from Danbury, had been accused of two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior in the presence of minors, a felony offense in Florida.
Despite the initial charges, Florida authorities decided to drop the case last week for undisclosed reasons, as reported by The Mercury News. According to court records, a mother traveling with her two children on JetBlue Flight 163 on July 19 raised the alarm to a flight attendant who witnessed Ms. Reilly positioned on Mr. Arnold’s lap. This led the crew to contact law enforcement.
The couple was taken into custody shortly after the flight landed at 11:30 am, as per ABC affiliate WWSB. They were subsequently released on their own recognizance and entered a plea of not guilty in August.
JetBlue condemned the alleged misconduct at the time, labeling it as “completely unacceptable” and against their policies. The airline stated that upon receiving the report, their staff promptly engaged JetBlue’s security team and law enforcement. They assured full cooperation with the investigation and declared that the implicated customers were banned from flying JetBlue.
In a separate incident, police responded to a threatening note discovered in a Frontier Airlines plane’s lavatory. The flight, en route from Denver, Colorado, to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, landed safely after the incident. Frontier Airlines confirmed the incident, stating that the threat was deemed non-credible, and the aircraft was cleared to proceed to the terminal for passenger disembarkation.
