A tragic incident has resulted in the death of a woman following a bizarre accident involving her car, leaving her loved ones in deep sorrow and disbelief.
Bernadette Delmotte, aged 60, passed away on 13 June in Bissy-sur-Fley, France, after she got trapped in her Fiat 500’s automatic window, leading to her asphyxiation. Reports suggest that she was cleaning her vehicle and, while trying to reach for the handbrake she had forgotten to engage, she inadvertently triggered the automatic window mechanism.
According to accounts from a friend named Béatrice, the car started rolling backward, prompting Bernadette to throw herself through the open window to halt its movement. Regrettably, in her attempt to stop the car, she unknowingly activated the window control, causing the glass to close around her neck.
When Bernadette failed to show up for a planned dinner, her friends became worried. Upon receiving no response to their calls, they visited her residence only to discover her lifeless body. Bernadette, a retired coach and training consultant, was well-regarded among her peers.
In a state of shock, Bernadette’s brother, François Delmotte, expressed his disbelief at the sudden loss of his sister. He recounted his initial confusion upon learning of the incident, emphasizing the tragic nature of the accident.
François has reached out to Fiat to detail the circumstances of his sister’s untimely death, with a focus on preventing similar tragedies rather than seeking compensation. An autopsy determined Bernadette’s cause of death as asphyxiation, ruling out any suspicion of foul play.
