“Boy has live crab removed from ear in Mexico”

A young boy vacationing in Mexico had an unexpected encounter when he sensed movement in his ear and found a live crab had taken residence there. The incident, which gained widespread attention after video footage was shared on social media, served as a cautionary tale for beachgoers to be vigilant.

The boy, identified as Pedro and the son of influencer Kitzia Mitre, was at the beach when he felt discomfort in his ear. Concerned, his mother sought immediate medical assistance. At a local health center, medical staff delicately used tweezers to extract a small green crab that had crawled into Pedro’s ear.

Despite missing a leg, the crab was alive and attempted to flee post-extraction. The video of the extraction process, showing Pedro visibly distressed and supported by his mother, garnered millions of views online. Kitzia Mitre expressed how the ordeal had triggered a new fear within Pedro.

Although the removal of the crab seemed to be successful without lasting harm, ensuring Pedro’s well-being and hearing remained a priority. Prompt medical attention was sought to prevent any potential infection or damage to his ear drum. Kitzia emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety over the well-being of the creature in such situations.

Medical experts highlighted the risks associated with foreign objects, particularly live ones, in the ear, including infection, pain, and potential hearing impairment if not addressed promptly. Beach enthusiasts were advised to be cautious of small creatures, shells, or debris entering their ears, especially after swimming or being in shallow water.

Fortunately, Pedro’s hearing was unharmed, and he is currently recuperating, according to his mother.
