During their official visit, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania were guests at a lavish state banquet at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla. The event was a grand affair attended by various dignitaries, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, and other notable figures.
Months of meticulous preparation went into organizing the banquet, with every detail meticulously planned and overseen by the royal staff. The banquet took place in St George’s Hall, the largest room in the castle, featuring an elaborate table setting with exquisite decorations and a carefully curated French menu.
The 160 guests were seated at a 50-meter mahogany table adorned with colorful flowers and an array of cutlery and glassware meticulously arranged. Each place setting was precisely measured, and the table was elegantly set with candles and napkins folded in a Dutch bonnet style.
To efficiently serve the large number of guests, 19 stations were strategically positioned around the hall, each staffed with four members to ensure a smooth dining experience. Special dietary requirements and other requests from high-profile guests were carefully noted and addressed during the service.
Before the banquet commenced, the King and Queen inspected the floral arrangements and personally thanked the staff for their efforts in organizing the event. As per tradition, the menu was tailored to reflect the guests of honor’s country, with a selection of wines and spirits chosen for the occasion.
The dinner featured a variety of prestigious wines and spirits, including Sir Winston Churchill’s preferred champagne, a vintage port in honor of Mr. Trump being the 45th President of the United States, and a Cognac with a tribute to his Scottish heritage. Additionally, a special cocktail, the Transatlantic Whisky Sour, was crafted to symbolize the close relationship between the UK and the US.
Despite the elaborate offerings, Mr. Trump, who abstains from alcohol, likely declined the specially crafted cocktail. The state banquet was a resplendent affair celebrating diplomacy and the longstanding ties between the two nations.
