“The Traitors” Season Finale: Unexpected Joint Winners Disappoint Fans

“The Traitors” is a TV show that I faithfully follow every season, whether I’m professionally engaged or not. Since its inception, I have been captivated by the series, always rooting for the Traitors to emerge victorious.

I vividly recall the intense moment when Mollie was double-crossed by Harry in the final moments of season two, and the disappointment I felt when Wilf narrowly missed claiming the top prize in the inaugural season. Even in the third season, my fervent hope was for Charlotte to triumph, as she embodied the epitome of a Traitor, unmatched by any other contestant to date.

However, in the latest season, my allegiance shifted from supporting the entire group of Traitors to backing just one individual. The recent finale saw both Stephen and Rachel being declared joint winners, sharing the prize money.

This unexpected outcome left me disheartened. Stephen had the opportunity to strategically outplay his fellow Traitor, hinting at a potential betrayal due to mutual distrust. Yet, at a crucial juncture, the Traitors surprisingly displayed loyalty, resulting in what I consider the most unfavorable conclusion in the show’s history. I anticipated Rachel turning on Stephen during the final elimination, but she opted for a different course of action.

Stephen held the key to executing a masterful game plan by eliminating Rachel, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown akin to the memorable Harry and Mollie standoff from season two. Regrettably, this season failed to engage me as its predecessors did. The introduction of the Secret Traitor twist lacked lasting impact, swiftly uncovering Fiona’s true identity before the suspense could fully unfold.

Compared to the previous season’s intriguing Seer twist, the Dagger twist and subsequent events in this season failed to generate the same level of excitement. The lack of intrigue and absence of substantial plot developments left both Rachel and Stephen relatively unscathed, despite Stephen’s constant air of suspicion.

My concern for a show of this nature is that familiarity may diminish the element of surprise. To maintain its allure, the upcoming fifth season requires substantial revisions; otherwise, the show risks losing its initial appeal.

A genuine Traitor should embody treachery throughout, a standard that these two winners failed to uphold, revealing their true allegiance as faithful participants.
