Thomas Skinner faced a setback from a well-known household brand, as per reports. The popular figure from Strictly Come Dancing, known for his catchphrase “Bosh,” had plans to launch a homeware line associated with his phrase, including bedding and candles. However, the leading electrical company, Bosch, intervened, citing similarities between Thomas’ phrase and their brand name, which is linked to common items like washing machines, TVs, dishwashers, vacuums, and parts.
Allegedly, the German company’s lawyers compelled Thomas to rename his homeware collection. Thomas frequently uses the term “Bosh” on his social media platforms and during his appearance on BBC’s The Apprentice in 2019, where he placed ninth alongside Marianne Rawlins.
A source revealed that Thomas had ambitious plans for the “Bosh” brand, intending to apply it to various ventures. However, as his popularity and social media following increased, Bosch took notice and involved their legal team.
Reportedly, a naming tribunal mandated Thomas to make the change, leaving him with no choice. Bosch declined to comment on the legal process but confirmed that an application was made to the Company Names Tribunal in the previous year, with the matter settled in August 2024.
At 34, Skinner is currently a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Amy Dowden. Despite his appearance on the show, he has been embroiled in controversy. Recently, he admitted to being unfaithful to his wife Sinead shortly after their marriage. The affair involved cosmetic treatments and lasted for two weeks in May 2022.
Following his confession, Thomas expressed remorse for his actions and highlighted the importance of his family. He also addressed criticism for his association with American Vice President JD Vance, emphasizing his resilience against negative comments and affirming his determination to persevere.
Thomas asserted that he will not succumb to cancellation attempts and emphasized his strength in overcoming adversity. He acknowledged the challenges he has faced but remained steadfast in his resolve.
