Diddy’s Legal Team Urges Reduced Sentence for Prostitution Conviction

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ legal team is urging a U.S. judge to impose a 14-month prison term on the music producer and rapper following his conviction for prostitution-related crimes. While acquitted of more severe charges such as sex trafficking and racketeering, the 55-year-old celebrity potentially faces up to 20 years in prison for two counts of facilitating prostitution. Despite maintaining his innocence and planning to appeal, his lawyers are requesting a reduced sentence, proposing supervised release coupled with mandatory drug treatment, therapy, and group counseling as suitable measures. Prosecutors have until September 29 to offer their sentencing recommendations, with U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian scheduled to deliver the final sentence on October 3.

In their defense submission, the legal team emphasized the jury’s decision to acquit Combs of the more serious allegations as a clear indication of his innocence. They argued that after enduring over a year in a renowned U.S. prison, it is time for Combs to return to his family, continue his treatment, and embark on the next phase of his remarkable life. During the trial, it was revealed that Combs had transported individuals, including his partners, and paid male escorts for sexual encounters, violating federal laws under the Mann Act. While cleared of racketeering and sex trafficking charges related to coercive sexual activities known as ‘freak-offs,’ Combs expressed relief upon hearing the verdict, with his family and defense team showing support and celebration.
