“Cov Road Closed for Suspected Bomb Found Empty”

A Coventry road was closed off today after an unexploded bomb was found in Radford. Police responded to reports of a hand grenade discovered in a garden on Beake Avenue, leading to the establishment of a large cordon near Chesholme Road. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) was called in around 11:15 am to assess the situation. After inspection, Coventry Police confirmed that the device was empty.

Following the clearance, Beake Avenue has been reopened, and traffic is now back to normal, as confirmed by West Midlands Roads. A Coventry Police spokesperson mentioned that the suspected hand grenade was deemed harmless by the Army EOD team, leading to the removal of the cordon.

WM Roads shared an update stating that the disruption has been resolved, and traffic is now flowing smoothly in the area.
