At least two individuals have lost their lives following a fiery aircraft crash involving multiple lorries near a motorway. Disturbing videos circulating on social media captured a massive smoke cloud rising from the crash site in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday, October 12.
The victims’ identities remain undisclosed as authorities work to determine the cause of the tragic incident. The crash occurred around 1:30 pm local time near Hicks Airfield, situated in a commercial area surrounded by small businesses and residential neighborhoods.
Lois Kinman, a spokesperson for the airfield, confirmed that the involved aircraft was not based at the location. Various emergency response teams, including those from Tarrant County, Haslet, Lake Worth, Newark, Saginaw, Eagle Mountain, and Fort Worth, swiftly responded to the scene.
Robbie Hoy, a public information officer for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, mentioned that the Federal Aviation Administration would lead the investigation. The public was advised to avoid the crash area while emergency crews managed the aftermath, with images showing emergency vehicles blocking off the main roadway.
The aircraft, identified as a Beechcraft King Air C90, crashed with an undisclosed number of passengers on board. Witness Lauren Anderson, a cashier at a nearby animal feed shop, described seeing a large black smoke cloud, with a flurry of emergency vehicles arriving in the aftermath. Despite the chaos, Anderson noted that the scene eventually returned to normalcy, leaving a strange feeling of the recent event’s impact.
