“Darts Pro Luke Littler’s Traffic Woe: Misses Championship”

British darts sensation Luke Littler provided an update following his absence from the penultimate Players Championship event of 2025. The 18-year-old was set to compete at PC33 in Wigan but missed the sign-on registration deadline due to traffic, leading to his withdrawal from the lineup. Instead of participating, Littler shared on Instagram that he decided to head back home and humorously speculated about his replacement.

Later in the day, Littler disclosed that he opted to enjoy Chinese cuisine at a local restaurant while his darting counterparts, including Luke Humphries, took to the stage. Subsequently, he explained his lateness for the tournament, attributing it to a tragic road incident on the M6 in Wigan where a man lost his life. Expressing condolences, Littler acknowledged missing the pro tour registration due to the distressing event.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the incident on the M6 between the Bryn Interchange and Orrell/M58 junctions, where a man was pronounced dead. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the fatality and stated that investigations were ongoing at the scene.

Despite missing PC33, Littler’s spot in the Players Championship finals next month is secure. Initially facing concerns about qualification, Littler’s victory at PC32 secured his place in the finals and silenced skeptics who doubted his top-64 chances. Following his win, Littler dismissed critics on social media and asserted his readiness to compete for the £120,000 top prize at the upcoming finals.

Recently crowned World Grand Prix champion, Littler faced a setback at the European Championship in Dortmund, losing to Wade in the competition. Amidst his tournament highs and lows, Littler remains a prominent figure in the world of darts, gearing up for future challenges and victories.
