A woman shared that she underwent rib surgery to reshape her waistline intentionally. This procedure, known as RibXcar or rib remodeling surgery, is a minimally invasive technique aimed at enhancing waistline definition without removing ribs.
Although considered a relatively new and increasingly popular approach, experts caution that there are potential risks involved. Complications may include chronic pain, visible scarring, an unnatural appearance, sunken contours, and the loss of rib protection function.
Following the surgery, patients are instructed to wear a tight corset for three months to control the degree of waistline reduction desired. Patients can achieve up to a five-inch reduction in waist size within three months, emphasizing the importance of thorough research and selecting certified plastic surgeons.

Citing dissatisfaction with her body shape, Natalie consulted with Dr. Thomas Sterry, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York, who had previously administered filler and Botox treatments to her.
Expressing her motivation for the surgery, Natalie explained, “I was unhappy with the excess fat in my flanks and upper back despite regular exercise. Additionally, I felt my torso was disproportionately short and lacked definition.” She further described her surgeon’s advice on achieving an hourglass figure by contouring her ribs through surgery rather than solely relying on liposuction.
Despite initial shock, Natalie’s friends supported her decision. Dr. Sterry, having performed the surgery in Peru before, conducted the procedure on Natalie in New York. The cost of the treatment starts at $9,900 (£7,459), with an additional expense for liposuction.
